Yuka D. Narendra is a Metalhead and a Progressive Rock fan. A big fan of Voivod, Slayer. Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, he eventually grew up listening to Rush, Yes, ELP, King Crimson, and other progressive rock giants. But he also dove deep into the music of The Eagles, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell and even, Teresa Teng. He was born in Jakarta, September 15, 1972. Since graduating in 2000 from the Department of Visual Communication Design at the University of Pelita Harapan, Yuka went straight into the world of education to become a lecturer at his alma mater. Yuka’s interest in learning popular culture made him read many textbooks about Cultural Studies since he was in college. He continued his studies in Cultural Studies, at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Indonesia from 2004 to 2006. After obtaining his master’s degree, he returned to teaching at his alma mater and several other private universities. Since then he actively writes and presents his research in various scientific forums. In 2018, Yuka released his research book about the 1980s generation of Metalhead Indonesia. The title of the book is “Heavy Metal Parents: “Heavy Metal Parents: Cultural Identity Construction of Indonesian Metalheads in the 1980’s,” which commonly mistaken for Psychology text book on parenting issues. In his spare time, he spends his time in his modest recording studio since 2000. Yuka is an underground music producer and had produced more than 25 album recordings from various musical genres, spanning from Metal, Grunge, Avant-Garde Jazz, Pop, and Folk. Together with his wife and daughter, Yuka often hunted authentic Chinese Food because his way of enjoying life is having some good meals with his loved ones.
